{"id":1524,"date":"2023-11-29T17:24:38","date_gmt":"2023-11-29T17:24:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/?p=1524"},"modified":"2023-12-04T07:15:35","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T07:15:35","slug":"multi-device-synchronization","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/multi-device-synchronization\/","title":{"rendered":"Multi-device synchronization"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Starting with Cartograph Maps version 3.x.x settings, bookmarks, tracks, overlays, activities, media files, maps and map styles can be synchronized between devices using the <strong>Cartograph cloud service<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-vivid-red-color has-text-color has-link-color has-large-font-size wp-elements-2cb4f27d7fde97561b48b512e79b8a10\"><strong>WARNING: This feature is experimental. Please make a copy of the &#8220;appdb.sqlite&#8221; file in the Cartograph directory before using the new cloud sync tool so that you can restore the file in case of eventual bugs\/failures.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Limitations<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The cloud synchronization feature has the following limitations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Loaded <\/strong>map and style (render theme) <strong>entries <\/strong>are <strong>not updated <\/strong>during synchronization.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Underlying <strong>files<\/strong>, such as offline maps, offline overlays, and file attachments of bookmarks and way points <strong>are not synchronized<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>total number of entries for each category <\/strong>is limited to <strong>20000<\/strong>. All elements exceeding this limit are not synchronized. For instance if you have 100 tracks and a bookmark overlay with 30.000 bookmarks, then the bookmark overlay is skipped while all 100 tracks are synchronized. Generally it is highly recommended to exclude bookmark overlays or tracks with many (more than 1000) way points from synchronization  because it slows down synchronization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The cloud synchronization service is located in the main menu under &#8220;<strong>Backup manager<\/strong>&#8221; &#8211; &#8220;<strong>Sync data<\/strong>&#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"576\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-576x1024.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1544\" style=\"width:327px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-576x1024.png 576w, https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-169x300.png 169w, https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-768x1365.png 768w, https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image-865x1536.png 865w, https:\/\/www.cartograph.eu\/v3\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/11\/image.png 936w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 576px) 100vw, 576px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cartograph Maps Cloud Synchronization between devices\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/jyEcUKqTFcY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The following options are available:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Connect<\/strong>: Connects the sync service to a Cartograph user account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Disconnect<\/strong>: Disconnects the sync service from a Cartograph user account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Settings<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Upload<\/strong>: Uploads the app settings to the server.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Download<\/strong>: Downloads the app settings from the server. <strong>Note:<\/strong> After downloading you have to restart the app. On Android and iOS you have to kill\/terminate the app using the system task manager.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sync in background<\/strong>: When checked, then synchronization runs in background. Note: This option is only available after the first (initial) sync.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Interval<\/strong>: The background synchronization interval in seconds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Download only<\/strong>: If checked, then data is only downloaded from the server but not uploaded to the server.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ignore files outside of the sandbox<\/strong>: If checked, then offline overlay-, map-, and style entries which point to a file outside of the sandbox are not synced. It is recommended to enable this option else you get &#8220;dead&#8221; entries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ignore files without download URLs<\/strong>: If checked, then offline overlay-, map-, and style entries which do not have a download link are not synced.
