Cartograph Maps on Apple WatchOS and Google WearOS
Cartograph Maps is now available as companion apps for Apple WatchOS (Apple Watch Series and Ultra series) and Google WearOS (for example Google Watch, Samsung Watch, etc.).
“Companion app” means that the app can be installed together with the Android/iOS apps but the watch apps run independently (“stand-alone“). So you can go for a walk and use the Cartograph app without carrying your smartphone with you.
Features include (and are extended based on user feedback and requests):
- Mapsforge offline maps
- Mapsforge render themes (e.g. OpenAndroMaps Elevate or Elements)
- Track recording
- Offline routing using BRouter (since 4.0.3)
- Bookmarks/Waypoints
- Standalone (meaning no smartphone is required)
How to install?
- Android: Install “https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.cartograph3” on your watch.
- iPhone/iPad: Install “https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cartograph-maps-3/id1588186796” on your iPhone/iPad. The iOS Watch app will then offer you an option to install the app on your Apple Watch.
