Yes, you can add grid overlays here:
Map manager -> “Offline” -> “+” -> “Special offline maps” -> “Grid”.
I think, the latest version 3.8.9 is not yet provided as download. I still get version 3.8.5 here.
The Windows version is now updated.

Is a version of Cartograph Maps expected for Linux?
A Linux version is not planned. Eventually I will offer a Raspberry Pi version later this year.
