Online map tile downloader
Starting with Cartograph 3.1.2 downloading of online tiles into an offline MBTiles file is supported.
Note: Due to legal reasons only manually added online maps can be used as tile sources for the download. You have to set the “enable_tile_download” flag to “true” in the JSON file when importing maps (see https://www.cartograph.eu/v3/add-ons/online-maps/#onlinemap). As an alternative you can also use the Online map creation tool.
After you have installed the online maps as described above, you can click on the online map entry in the Map manager and select “Download tiles“.
Note: The maximum number of tiles per operation is limited to 1.000.000 tiles.

Dear Harald, thanks very much for the great Cartograph tool. One question regarding the “download tiles” feature: is it possible to export a certain area as a high-res jpg image for example to use in Davinci resolve to animate a hiking trail?
The tile tool downloads tiles only. It is not possible to create a high res image from the tiles but you can use the “take screenshot” function in the app for taking a screenshot of the map at the current screen location. But I have noted down your idea/request for a future update.
thanks very much for the quick reply!
The latest update (3.5.9, 3rd June 2024) now supports map atlases of up to 900 megapixel (iOS), and 4 gigapixel (macOS, Windows). Please note that generating a 4 gigapixel map requires a lot of RAM (~30GB).
